RNC AGM held in the Oori

The AGM was held on Sunday 26th July at SOS and was well attended. Detailed minutes are available from Helen Duigan. The following highlights occurred.
It was agreed that it was not practical to make the RNC a section 21 company. The RNC committee will apply to the relevant government department to register the RNC as a non-profit organisation in terms of the Non-Profit Organisations Act of 1997.
Gordon Hooper kindly undertook to do a market survey in order to ascertain whether the membership fees should be dropped in order to attract more members..
Ernest Seamark from the Gauteng Department of Agriculture, and Rural Development (GDARD) delivered a very interesting talk covering the Egoli Granite Grassland in Doornrandje.
This Egoli Granite Grassland is an endangered vegetation type which extends into the Oori and it occurs nowhere else in the world.
In April Helen Duigan temporarily stepped down as chairman. The new office bearers will be elected at the next committee meeting. Helen will continue to serve on the committee.
It was confirmed that the proposed Cradle Buffer Zone will now extend to the R511.
The new RNC Constitution was accepted with minor changes.
The committee presented the new RNC Manifesto, the Portfolios and the Objectives for the year 2009-2010. The Portfolios cover the extensive activities of the RNC committee and make it possible for residents to offer their time and talents, without being on the main committee.
The committee called for a minute silence in memory of Fergus Sexton
